Jasper Pääkkönen: a "Viking" on Jurassic land

Avid Fly fisherman, committed fish activist and accomplished actor, Jasper Pääkkönen took a break from his acting for series “Vikings. Season 4” to feed his passion for fly fishing and go after the amazing Jurassic Chromers of Strobel Lake at Estancia Laguna Verde Lodge.

Jasper as Viking!

Jasper is the most prolific film actor in Finland, and has acted in more than 15 movies being only 35. However, he considers himself first and foremost a fly fisherman and a fish activist. He is a member of the VISION fly fishing world team and has appeared in fly fishing TV shows and DVD's as a celebrity guest. Jasper is also ambassador for Patagonia and their fly fishing team.

Fishing and Acting Career Highlights

  • Fisherman of the year 2012 awarded by Finland's Minister of Environment Ville Niisnistö
  • Arranged two conservation seminars held at Finland's Parliament in 2013 and 2014 and acted as chairman alongside Finland's Minister of Development Pekka Haavisto
  • Received an award and official recognition for his fisheries conservation from the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation (FANC)
  • Winner, Jussi Awards (Finland's Oscars) Best Actor, Heart of a Lion (2013)
He has never hesitated in using his popularity in favour of improving the laws and conditions that regulate fisheries in his country. Many of Jasper's public campaigns, mostly, via social media, have really helped to change existing rules in favour of fisheries conservation which he's very proud of.
He deeply believes public pressure from social media networking can bring a change and force politicians to pass laws that can protect fisheries and fish.
Besides, he really loves the sport and fishes big time!! He's got a sore arm on all the bows he got during his stay at ELV. Thanks for everything Jasper! You're more than welcome to come a visit us again!
